Virtual Varsity workout


Members of the Oxford and Cambridge Varsity rugby teams have carried out a virtual workout for Leonard Cheshire services and customers across the UK.

Agnes Court in Banbury, Cheshire Mews in Lurgan, Taylor Cheshire House in Belfast and people who benefit from the Edinburgh and Fife Support at Home services were online for a sit-down workout led by Power2Inspire, who promote the playing of inclusive group sport.

Leonard Cheshire has a long-standing relationship with the Varsity match, which this year is being held at Welford Road, home of Leicester Tigers, on Sunday 4 July.

Sally Barlow, Service Manager at Agnes Court, Banbury said:

“Virtual connection has been vital at our services during lockdown, and we really welcomed the opportunity to join up with the teams for this event.  We have a great relationship with the Oxford team and have visited Twickenham to see the Varsity match several times.  We hope this association continues to raise the profile of Leonard Cheshire.”

The complete list of Cambridge participants from were as follows: Jonny Andrews, Jack Blair, Elise Goddard, Jake Hennessey, Angus McIntosh, Jenni Shuttleworth, Hannah Taylor, and Bryony Warnock-Horn.

Oxford participants were Hannah Cooper, Gus Conningham, Euan Friend, Callum Grant, Louis Jackson, Fiona Kennedy, Rhidian Lerwell, Rob Quinlan and Carla Schmidt.
