Who we support

We deliver person-centred care for disabled adults, respecting each individual’s personal preferences and wishes.

Each tenant has their own tenancy agreement with building owner Inclusion Housing. Leonard Cheshire is the sole care provider.
People living at Bennett Court are currently all under 40. People have various learning disabilities and sometimes other conditions. One current tenant uses a wheelchair. We assist everyone to live life to the full.

We support people with a range of conditions, including but not limited to:

  • various mild to moderate learning disabilities including Downs Syndrome
  • autism
  • cerebral palsy

What support we provide

Our committed and friendly staff can help people with all daily living activities, including all forms of personal care. There are core staff members available 24/7, including two people on waking night shifts.

Everyone has their own person-centred plan (PCP) and, where needed, their own communication passports. The hours of support we provide may vary between tenants: it depends on the hours that are funded in people’s individual care packages.

We support people to do the things they like to do. Tenants devise weekly planners with support workers. We help people build life skills wherever possible: these might include cleaning, cooking, money management and support with bills. (Tenants pay for their own utility bills, such as electricity and internet costs, as they would in any supported living or community flat.)

What activities are available

People enjoy a range of activities, including going to the gym, swimming, horseriding, attending craft clubs and going to local football matches. Some tenants often enjoy doing these things together.

People also enjoy going out in Nailsea, which has several pubs, cafés and restaurants, as well as plenty of shops and a community centre. The North Somerset region offers loads of country walks, and there’s also the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare. Bristol is close by, a young and vibrant city that has even more to explore.
