Change 100 eligibility criteria

Is our internship scheme right for you? Find out the eligibility criteria for our Change 100 scheme.

Summary of eligibility criteria

To apply to Change 100 for summer 2025, you must:

  • Consider yourself to have a disability or long-term condition as defined in the Equality Act 2010.
  • Have the right to work in the UK for a summer.
  • Be in your penultimate or final year of university level study, or you have graduated within the last five years.

Disability

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must self-identify with the definition of disability as outlined in the Equality Act 2010. You are disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

You can read the full definition on the UK Government website.

Information on when a mental health condition becomes a disability.

We commonly meet applicants with neurodivergent conditions (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD), mobility impairments, sensory impairments, long-term conditions (such as IBS, diabetes, Chron’s disease, epilepsy, chronic fatigue), and mental health conditions (such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, OCD, anorexia).

However please note, this is not an exhaustive list. We will not ask you for medical evidence of your disability – we only ask that you identify with the legal definition as outlined above.

The right to work in the UK

To participate in the Change 100 programme, you must have the right to work in the UK during summer 2025.

This means you are a British or Irish citizen or a Non-EEA national with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

If you are an EU/EEA/Swiss national, you are eligible if you are a resident living in the UK with pre-settled or settled status. If you arrived in the UK after 2020, you will need other documentation such as a student visa.

If you are an international student studying at a UK university, you need a visa that is valid for the period of the summer internship, such as a student or graduate visa.

During our process, you will be required to show your passport, or other documentation, to prove your eligibility to work in the UK.

If you have settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement scheme or e-visa, you will need to provide a share code and your date of birth.

A driving licence cannot be used as right to work evidence.

For the most up-to-date information on the right to work in the UK, please visit the UK Visa and Immigration Home Office website and the UK Council for International Affairs website.

University level study

To be eligible for the Change 100 programme this year, your undergraduate or postgraduate degree must have a completion date between 2020 and 2026.
Any degree subject is accepted.
