That’s why each Leonard Cheshire home is unique, and provides the support that’s right for the people who live there. Personalised support helps to make sure everyone can live as independently as they choose.

Alder House, in the village of Chigwell, is home for 22 adults with physical and learning disabilities. We’re close to shops, parks and a post office, and our home itself is surrounded by woodland. We’re just a short walk from Grange Hill underground station, and both Romford and Ilford are nearby.


Is this the place for you?

This is a safe and friendly place to live, with high quality care. The team is dedicated and experienced and will make sure your needs are understood and met – all with the greatest privacy and respect. We have our own dedicated physiotherapist, an IT Room with Eyegaze, and each room has separate access to beautiful gardens with views of our very own lake.

At Alder House, we’ll support you to be independent, healthy and active.

There’s something for everyone and our great team of staff and volunteers run individual and group activities – from crafts, cooking, games, movie nights, relaxation classes and trips out. You can get involved as much as you choose.
